Vas Upsala Ekeby "Spiral" UE204 Ingrid Atterberg 50-tal retro

This vintage Upsala Ekeby vase, model "Spiral" (UE204), was designed by Ingrid Atterberg in the 1950s. The vase is a classic example of Swedish mid-century design, with its distinctive spiral pattern. It is made of brown earthenware with yellow and white glazed stripes. Made in the 1950s - 1956. The vase is in excellent condition. Perfect for adding a touch of Scandinavian style to any room. Ingrid Magdalena Atterberg-Göransson, born 11 May 1920 in Härnösand, died 27 March 2008 in Uppsala, was a Swedish ceramist with her own ceramics workshop in Uppsala from 1969. She introduced manganese clay in the late 1940s and chamotte in the mid-1950s. Experiments with glazes and clay led in 1957 to sintered goods, technically a stoneware, which was cheap to produce due to its lower firing temperature. Ingrid Atterberg was active at Upsala-Ekeby AB from 1944 to 1963, where she was one of the leading artists. She also worked for Karlskrona and Gefle Porcelain Factories from 1952. There she designed the series Tricorn, Pylon, Negro, Grafika, Västkust, Chamotte, Mimosa, Pastell and Vienna, amongst others. She was also active in Mancioli Natale's ceramics workshops in Tuscany from 1952 to 1964 and was commissioned by Alsterfors glassworks from 1958 to 1963. In 1954 she married the architect Viking Göransson (1900–1985).
