Hans arbejde indeholder elementer af popkunst, kubisme og graffiti. Han brød ind på den internationale scene i 1989, da Absolut vodka fik til opgave at designe en flaskeetiket til en reklamekampagne. Hans stil begyndte derefter at blive efterspurgt af både store virksomheder, til vægmalerier, skulpturer og produkternes visuelle identitet. for nylig arbejdede han for eksempel for Disney og Évian. Britto blev udnævnt til kunstambassadør for Florida. Det var ham, der designede logoet til 2014 FIFA World Cup i Brasilien. Denne kunstner er til stede i adskillige offentlige samlinger (Eileen, Guggenheim, Bill Clinton, George Bush) såvel som på adskillige museer (MoMa, Los Angeles, Napoli).
