Sebastian Güthlein (1776-1858) Attributed to - Zum Ströbala

This expressive oil painting on canvas with original wooden frame is attributed to Sebastian Güthlein (1776-1858). The painting depicts Anna Maria Schuberth, wife of the Bamberg brewery owner Caspar Schuberth, and her husband. The couple is presented in the portraits as though looking at each other, giving the viewer a glimpse of their intimate connection. The paintings likely originate from a private family collection and show beautiful details of the woman's jewellery. The oil painting is in good condition, except for missing pieces of wood in two places, which are barely visible. The "Ströberla" brewery, later known as "Schuberth Brewery," was located on Maxplatz 14 in Bamberg until 1905. Kaspar Schuberth managed the brewery for four decades from 1864 onwards and his wife Anna Maria Schuberth continued to run it until 1905. She died in 1911.
