Koson Ohara 'Two Sparrows in a Rain Shower' Print

This beautiful woodblock print by Koson Ohara depicts two sparrows perched amongst delicate branches in a gentle rain shower. The artist's meticulous attention to detail is evident in the sparrows' feathery bodies and the subtle nuances of the light filtering through the rain. This print is a stunning example of Ohara's mastery of the kacho-ga style, which focuses on the beauty of birds and flowers. The print is in good condition, with some slight trimming, light folds, watermarks at the top and light brown spots on the left. Ohara was a prolific printmaker in the 20th century known for his kacho-ga, bird and flower prints. He took his artist's name Koson in part by adapting his teacher's name Kason. Early in his career, many of Koson's prints were muted in their colors and captured a sense of serenity and elegance. Koson's depictions of birds are very realistic, particularly the details of the body and feathers are always depicted with meticulous care. This piece is sure to add a touch of elegance and tranquility to any home.
