Original, short Sarmatian sword with a hexagonal blade III - IV century
Swords of this type are associated with the Sarmatian Alans. In the 3rd century they appear in the northern Precaucasus. In the 4th century they spread to the Kuban, the areas on the Don and in Crimea.
DATING: III - IV century AD
ORIGIN: the sword comes from the areas of southern Ukraine
Total length of the sword: 56 cm, width of the blade at the base: 4 cm,
Condition of preservation: numerous corrosion pits and traces of iron oxidation, but the condition is stable - nothing is crumbling or falling off - the sword had to be subjected to conservation; the tip is slightly bent - everything can be seen in the photos.
