Carl Bloch (Danish, 1834-1890) Royal Academy male model study. Dimensions: 17 x 23 inches without frame. 26 x 32 inches with frame. Description: Charcoal and pencil on laid/chain-lined paper bearing manufacturer's watermark. Signed C. Bloch to the lower right. Outstanding mid-19th century male model study. Age: Ca. 1850-1860. Possibly a work done while Carl Bloch was a pupil of Wilhelm Marstrand at the Danish Royal Academy Model school from 1851-1852. Provenance: From a private Danish collector. Motif with a standing male model with his right hand on his chest and his left arm outstretched, holding a staff. The charcoal and pencil drawing is framed in its authentic 19th century massive mahogany frame with gold ornamented inner list.
