Gilead is a novel by Marilynne Robinson that won the Pulitzer Prize in 2005. Set in a 1950's Iowa parsonage, the story is narrated as a letter to the son of the minister. This coming-of-age story and family history examines the issues of faith, family, and forgiveness set in the heartland of America. The book was chosen as Barack Obama's favorite book in 2012.
