The Green Mile is a 1999 American drama film directed by Frank Darabont. The film is based on Stephen King's novel of the same name. It follows the story of Paul Edgecombe, a prison guard on death row in the 1930s, who becomes friends with a death-row inmate with supernatural abilities, John Coffey. The film has a strong social and ethical message and has received numerous awards and nominations, including nominations for seven Oscars, including for Best Picture and Best Director.
