The Dark Knight Rises is a 2012 American superhero film directed by Christopher Nolan. The film is based on the DC Comics character Batman and is the third and final film in Nolan's Batman trilogy. The film follows Batman, who emerges from self-imposed exile to confront Bane, a deadly mercenary who decides to destroy Gotham City.
