Very fine painting "Drinking Festival of the Eight Immortals of Wine Cup" - including inscribed - Kishi Ganku (1756-1838) - Japan - Sene Edo-periode

Kishi Ganku var en kendt japansk maler fra den sene Edo-periode og grundlægger af Kishi-malerskolen. Han er måske mest kendt for sine malerier af tigre. Ganku blev født i Kanazawa som Kishi Saeki, studerede malestile, herunder den kinesiske maler Shen Nanpin og Maruyama-Shijō-skolen, og ankom til Kyoto omkring 1780. I slutningen af det 18. århundrede blev Gankus malerier værdsat af lånere, der omfattede den kejserlige familie, hvilket førte til en stilling under prins Arisugawa. Hans elever omfattede hans søn, Gantai, svigersøn Ganryou, adopterede søn Renzan, Yokoyama Kazan, Shirai Kayou og Kawamura Bumpou.
