LAURENCE JENKELL, AKA JENK Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, is a self-taught French sculptor and painter for contemporary art, known worldwide for her 'Wrapping Bonbon' sculptures. She was born on December 31, 1965 and lives and works on the Côte d'Azur and opens a workshop gallery in Monaco in 2022 to exhibit her works. She began her artistic research in the mid-1990s, where she experimented with different techniques so that she could master plexiglass and create HER twisting technique. Twisting or wrapping is literally the rolling of the material onto itself connected to the twisting of the foil. Using this technique, she created the Bonbon sculpture, which made her famous and became her artistic signature. For nearly 20 years, JENKELL has sculpted colorful candies in materials such as bronze, plexiglass, aluminum, marble, polyester, and Murano glass.
